Primary Function:

This individual will play a key role in the development and execution of research, and innovation initiatives including new product development, product and process improvement, quality, and food safety. Additionally, it will require completion of inspections, testing and sampling to ensure product, production processes and environmental safety and quality is in alignment with BRC requirements. Successful collaboration and communication within cross functional teams.

Responsibilities and Duties: This information is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Team member may perform other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform R&D bench work through formulation ideation, commercialization, and product improvements to existing SKU's.
  • Complete tasks while maintaining accurate and complete records
  • Ability to carry out duties and instructions in a diligent and logical manner with moderate amounts of supervision
  • Up to 60% of work may revolve around document creation/control. This will include internal documents, specifications, COA's, as well as other regulatory documents
  • Support cross functional teams to review and approve new ingredients for R&D work
  • Perform analytical, shelf-life, and sensory evaluations
  • Support initiatives and activities for BRC certification in ensuring product quality and safety

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Participate as a member of the Food Defense Team. Must understand Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI)
  • Support the investigation of customer feedback or production errors which correlate to product formulations, specifications, etc. in tandem with cross-functional teams
  • Support facility KPI's
  • Support Regulatory Projects as needed


  • 2 or 4 year degree preferred, high school diploma with 2-4 years related experience preferred or no degree with 6 year's product quality and R&D experience
  • Experience with working in teams to deliver results
  • Basic knowledge regarding food safety, GFSI, HACCP, FDA, Kosher, and Federal, State, and local regulations governing food products is required. Certifications or training in any of the above desirable
  • Meticulous attention to detail, well organized and able to apply logic to a variety of situations to solve complex problems
  • Strong analytical skills and a desire to learn new concepts quickly and apply in productive ways
  • Color acuity and knowledge of lab equipment needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive team attitude
  • Effectively manage multiple competing priorities
